ON GOING: AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE FOR A SCANDINAVIAN MANUFACTURER : Y&C with associate experts does concept design and engineering for this advanced project that incorporates new technology.
ON GOING: &CAR An open concept project where Per Gyllenspetz is looking from scratch to find solutions to private urban travel needs. A flat floor inner space for big and small people, bikes, wheelchairs and prams. A wide pv panel roof to put the sun energy where it is needed - in the batteries. A lightweight composite structure. Electric motors inside each wheel. Speeds up to 80 km/h. For more info in Swedish enter www.nymobilitet.com Tech and design needs to go further. Large manufacturers or students are welcome to join.
T6 ROADSTER: This hard top hot rod has won numerous awards and aclaim world wide. The most prestigeous is off course the Hot Rod Of The Year 2004 award in USA. Per Gyllenspetz designed the car that has reminessence of several Volvo cars, like the PV 444 and also somewhat to the idea of Boyd’s Aluma Coupe. Carestos Leif Tufvesson hand crafted and engineered all parts and the aluminium body.
T6 ROADSTER: The weight is only a little more than 1000 kg. With a twin turbo transverse mounted rear/mid inline 6-cyl engine at 330 hp there is some power to push this automotive sculpture. Here showing trials on the Las Vegas drag strip. Photo: Volvo Cars.
T6 ROADSTER: A visit to the sponsor Labyrint AS in Norway.
V8 SPEEDSTER: Caresto asked for Y & C + associates to join again in a yet bigger project than the T6 Roadster. Per Gyllenspetz was overall responsible for the exterior and interior design. The concept school keeps close to the classic Ford ’32 hot rods. The very individual V8 Speedster design theme is Reduction and Power. The cars were presented in 2007 with Volvo Car Corporation at SEMA in Las Vegas and in Los Angeles. V8 Speedster has received the Al Slonaker Memorial Award and Most innovative vehicle - Grand National Roadster Show 2007. Photo by Bilsport.

V8 SPEEDSTER: The dashboard follows the identity of the Caresto T6 Roadster interior. This time the instrumentation display glass goes across the interior, wall-to-wall, and houses two LCD-rear view displays. The two different leather themes were Crocodile and Snakeskin embossed Scotish Bridge of Weir leather. Novus Interior crafted the upholstry for all panels. Photo: Volvo Cars.
V8 SPEEDSTER: Caresto owner and expert crafter Leif Tufvesson engineered the super sportscar-like chassis and rear/mid engine configuration. The motor is a 4.4 liter Volvo V8 converted to ethanol with an apx power output of 340 hp, the transmission is a 6-speed Geartronic. Body panels are aluminium and composite. The weight is apx 1200 kg. Photo: Bilsport.
V8 SPEEDSTER: Organizing a show at one of the major sponsors Caran-Semcon in Göteborg. Test driving see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJXFCOu5NgM

V8 SPEEDSTER: The taillights are a classic car sized peice of innovation also by Per Gyllenspetz and junior engineer Sebastian. Introducing a world first, the diode assembly consists of two-layer frosted and transparent glass panels, creating a special dimmed glow. Photo: A. Gyllenspetz
V8 SPEEDSTER: The work ran during two years involving many sponsors like Y&C, Volvo Cars, Caran/Semcon, Novus Interior, Bridge Of Weir, etc and junior designers and engineers Thomas, Maria, Peke, Lazlo et al.
RAIL CAR FOR SKYCAB AB : Design, ergonomics and mockups by Y & C/Labyrint and XDIN.
RAIL CARS – SPÅRBILAR FOR THE VISION 400 PROJECT: Sustainable transportation as in solar powered automatic rail cars. Like many European cities Göteborg has a very limited street space. One way of transporting more people around the city is to use the space above the streets. Cabs take you non-stop to your destination in the computerized grid. Research on the system shows that this is also a very economical way of urban transporting. The challenge is to create an attractive concept that people will accept. This suggestion shows engineering and design ideas by Per Gyllenspetz.

ARCTIC TRUCKS TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 120: This first assignment for Icelandic Arctic Trucks included styling and function for special needs. The modified vehicles provide abilities for extreme off road driving in arctic or desert driving.

LERADO ELECTRIC 4WHEEL SCOOTER: Project with Labyrint AS, Modell og Form AS, design and ergonomics by Per Gyllenspetz.
DODGE MAGNUM FOR ÄNGARNA ROSTSKYDD: The assignment consisted of taking the already powerful styling of the Magnum yet another step with a new body design and new details. The concept ideation includes rear promo LCD display backlights and an innovative biogas blue flame lighting on the side. Styling and ideas by Per Gyllenspetz.
VOLVO 850 INTERIOR DESIGN: At Volvo Cars design department Per Gyllenspetz was responsible for numerous projects. Here, in the 850 industrializing phase several hundred parts were carefully designed with functional beauty and given easily interpreted shape and graphic ergonomics. The cars and parts have been made in series well over a million and are used by people almost everywhere in the world. Photo: Volvo Cars
LEAVING THE BRICK BEHIND: Starting as an R&D design project in 1988 to investigate a new form language, Per Gyllenspetz suggested to leave the ”brick” design theme and instead look further back for inspiration at the Volvos of the 1950-ies and ahead into the future for a more dynamic and functional style. Many designers at Volvo and other car brands have implementing the idea. The arrowed hood design feature has been incredibly successful, you may see it at any instance on any street in the world. WEIGHT REDUCTION PRINCIPLES FOR VOLVO: In 2002 Per Gyllenspetz and Labyrint staff were asked to create suggestions for reducing weight on interior parts, here showing advanced applications of steel. In this early project stage, styling sketch methods are used to quickly explain part engineering and assembly. Pen and paper can work marvels for new ideas.
WAGON CONCEPT IDEATION FOR VOLVO CARS: One of many concepts is a plug-in accessory solar panel giving extra power for interior climate and camping needs.
GRAPHIC PROGRAME FOR VOLVO CAR INTERIORS: In the mid 1980-ies French authorities suddenly banned import of any goods with non-french text information. Wash machines and cars piled up by the border. This started the development of a Volvo-unique graphic programme developed for back lit/white-on-black drivers environment applications. Per Gyllenspetz was responsible for the design of typefaces and symbols that were developed with graphic computers, a world novelty at the time.
